The trust that we give our intimate relationships, both on and offline, can be powerful. We might think that it hypothetically sounds like a bad idea to send strange money online, but not think twice when that “stranger” is an online acquaintance that we’ve developed feelings for. Romance scammers are imposters who build online relationships using a fake persona (and stolen pictures!) and then try and get their victim to send them cash.

Other times, scammers might try and get you to send money as part of a Grandparent Scam (pretending to call a senior person as a family member, but actually being a phone actor), email scams, consulate scams, advance pay scams, and more! Once a scammer has your money, they will either keep asking for larger amounts or disappear and you’ll never hear from them again!

Will Cash App Reimburse Stolen Money?

Cash App has a policy that states they may reimburse stolen money if you report the incident to them promptly. However, whether or not they will reimburse you depends on the specific circumstances of the incident.

If you notice unauthorized transactions on your Cash App account, you should immediately report the issue to Cash App support through the app or website. They will investigate the incident and may ask you to provide additional information or documentation to support your claim.

If they determine that you were a victim of fraud, they may reimburse you for the stolen money. However, it’s important to note that Cash App’s reimbursement policy does not guarantee that you will get your money back. Therefore, it’s important to take precautions to protect your account, such as enabling two-factor authentication, not sharing your account information with anyone, and keeping your device and account information secure.
