Kathern Was married for 10 years, but she felt she had something left to do in her life, that couldn’t be done while married, so she decided to divorce her husband. After this, she lived independently for ten years. While living alone, she always wondered why her husband hadn’t come back to her yet. Even though she had divorced him first, she considered him to be “awol”, abandoning his duty to her. Until the day he came back.
Kathern was glad he finally found her again. They remarried and lived happily together for another 10 years until he died. In total, they were together for 20 years. When reflecting on the situation, Kathern says she’s glad that everything worked out in the end, and she was grateful for the years they shared together.
Sometime after her husband passed, one of their children passed as well. Now it was just her and her remaining son. But one day, she received a message out of the blue from a man named Kern. He was a pilot in the military who was stationed overseas. His opening message was what got her attention.
“Hey, what’s your name?” he said. “Kathern” she replied. “I’ll call you honey”, said kern.
After a while, they started talking every day. Kern’s lifestyle and physique were what caught Kathern’s eye. And when he started telling her that he loved her, she fell for him. He proposed marriage and even sent her over an image of a marriage certificate… oddly enough.
He claimed to be going home to the U.S soon. He claimed that all she would need is to pay the “discharge fee of a couple of thousand dollars. Kathern agreed to pay for it. Now he would be coming home to meet her in person soon. But there was another problem, Kern got shot.
Kern was hit in the leg in a shootout overseas, and his phone was in his pocket at the time. The bullet went through the phone and into his leg. Now he would need money for his hospital bills, along with food and other expenses. Kathern agreed to take care of him and paid them all through gift cards.
After kern sent over $100,000, something didn’t seem to be right. He kept asking for more phones and making excuses for why he couldn’t meet up with her. When she reached out to socialcatfish.com, we told her that it was likely a scam and we suggested that she stop sending him money immediately. But Kern’s stories were just so convincing, and he needed her so she kept on sending giftcards.
“My brain is at war with my heart”, she said, as she looked back on why she continued to send money after she knew it was all fake.
She reached out to Social Catfish a second time to figure out whether or not Kern was real. But the more the team looked into it, the more obvious it became that it was all a scam. We found the real man in the photos, a pilot with a large social media following
