Romance Scammer’s “Babysitter” Scams Women Out Of Thousands

Kristine had been divorced twice, and she was not looking for love. She was just scrolling through Twitter when suddenly, she got a DM from someone. When she checked it, she was surprised to see a military man holding a rifle. His name was Chris, and he was reaching out to her because her pictures caught his interest.

The more they talked the more she liked him. He was a medic working in Syria, he was originally from California where his son still lived. His wife didn’t survive childbirth, so his son was living with a full-time babysitter. Christ seemed like a good man, and before long, he gained Kristine’s trust.

Chris kept in contact with Kristine. He sent her photos of him holding up pieces of paper with her name on them, singing songs, and much more. Kristine told Chris about her past relationship. She told him about how all of her past boyfriends and husbands were abusive drug addicts who were mean to her. Chris told her that he would never hurt her and he would always protect her. He was beginning to tell her that he loved her, and she was falling for him too,

The trouble began when he started asking for money. He was telling her that he couldn’t access his bank account, and he needed her to send him money to pay for his son’s babysitter. She was confused, she didn’t understand this request. She debated why Chris needed the money, and why she had to be the one to send it. She even talked to the babysitter about it on the phone. The babysitter told her that she needed to stroke Chris’s ego, and she should just send the money, saying Chris was really in love with her, and he would marry her as soon as he got back to the states. She eventually sent the money. Then she sent more and more until she sent thousands of dollars.

Eventually, Kristine refused to send any more money. This is when Chris started being mean to her. He started blaming her for all of the bad things in his life. He started to sound like all of the men he promised he would never be like.

Kristine could no longer trust Chris. She started to believe he wasn’t who he claimed to be, so she reached out to Social Catfish to help give her the answers she was looking for.

When looking into this situation, we found that Christ stole the images from an actor named Ryan Andrew Campbell. We also sent a tracker to the scammer and found that he was living in Lagos Nigeria, the romance scam capital of the world. So it seems like Chris wasn’t who he claimed to be. Kristine would have to go on with her life and leave “Chris” in the past…

Are You a Target?
