Victims of Online Romance Scams Win Money for the Holiday’s

The Social Catfish team gave back during the holiday season to victims of online romance scams and to those in need of Christmas presents. Those who were in need and signed up for our charity and those who were in our YouTube videos received additional help this Christmas, as we helped give everyone money and Christmas presents for the holiday season. Social media influencers also helped us give back by playing games to win money for those who were victims of romance scams and cargo scams.

Social Media Influencers and Social Catfish Gave Back to Victims of Online Romance Scams

We wanted to show our appreciation and support by giving back to scam victims who participated in our YouTube show called Scamfish. They were in need of extra help this holiday season, so we created a game for social media influencers to play. All they had to do was answer some questions, and in return, they won $100 a question to give back to their partnered scam victim.

“What is a definition of a catfish?” David, the founder of Social Catfish, asked social media influencer, Bidel.

“Somebody who posed to be somebody that they’re not in order to victimize somebody or receive something in return from that individual,” Bidel answered back.

By answering this question, he won $100. He then continued to answer more questions to win $600. In total, each social media influencer won $600 to give back to the scam victim they were partnered with! All of our participants were so excited to win some extra cash for the holidays and were grateful for our help.

“You will be receiving $600 from Social Catfish,” Linnie, our in-depth search specialist, exclaims as she’s video chatting one of the scam victims.

“Well, thank you so much! I appreciate that. Wow!” Lea exclaimed.

“The dream of becoming a homeowner, which I thought was forever gone since I was scammed, is no longer the case. I am a homeowner. I have rebuilt my credit score back to its personal best. I’m living proof you can fight your way back. It takes a lot of time, effort, and energy. But it is possible,” Rebecca states.

David and his family went to Target to buy toys, gift cards, clothes, wrapping paper, and more for families in need of Christmas presents this year. They even went to the Vans store and bought a lot of shoes for those who needed them.

With the merchandise that they bought, they set up a toy drive inside of our Social Catfish office. Families in need drove up to our office and waited as their trunks were filled with countless presents.
