The Hornet app is yet another way, besides Grindr, to meet men within the gay (bi and curious welcome!) community. Billed as a fun community with 25 million global users, your app feed on the Hornet app will include trends, influencers, and connections with nearby guys and possible connections. The app connects users based on location… for hookups, lasting relationships, and friendships. The app also combines news and stories, similar to social media platforms like Instagram. One popular feature on the app is that you can forward users to your friends, to get their feedback or play matchmaker on their behalf.
Types of Hornet Scams
Hornet scams can range from fake profiles to spam and bots. These are the most common Hornet scams that you should watch out for:
1. Bots
The goal of bots is to connect you to paid services and goods. You will believe you’re connecting with a sexy potential date but it’s really a bot trying to get you to link to outside apps or websites. Beware of users who want to send you outside emails or texts that redirect you to unexpected websites, services, or apps.
2. Porn
Porn stars may use the app in hopes of connecting you to their webcam show or site. If you end up finding out that your online connection only wants you to go to an outside porn site or paid show, block and delete them.
3. Catfish

4. Sex Workers
When you want to meet someone real, finding out that you’ve connected with a prostitute or sex worker (who wants you to pay them for sex) can be frustrating. Read profiles carefully and look for clues that the other user isn’t looking to date for love alone.
What Do You Do If You’re a Victim
If you’re a victim of scammers or catfish on the Hornet app, know you are not alone. You can take steps to protect yourself and feel empowered.
1. Block
