SongPop Scams: Watch Out For Bots and Romance Scammers!

Multiplayer games, such as SongPop, are a way to always keep people on their toes as they watch out for what their opponent will do next. They are a fun way to connect with friends, family, and significant others as it gives them something to do when they are bored. However, when our loved ones are busy, there is usually an option to play with random people who also play online games. While we usually don’t think there are any dangers in playing with strangers, it becomes a threat when they are able to randomly message you. This is why it is important to know the dangers of SongPop scams, and how to watch out for romance scammers or bots that you might be playing against.

What is SongPop?

SongPop is a head-to-head music trivia game that you can play with your friends, family, and random online players. You can play it on your iPhone app, Android app, Windows app, and Facebook Games. The game works by playing a selection of five songs and your goal is to guess each song before your opponent has the chance to.

After the round is complete, it will show you the songs that were used in the game to give you a chance to add them on iTunes, Google Play, or Spotify. You can also message players within the game, but if your opponent is someone you don’t know, this could be dangerous.

Are The Bots on SongPop?

It’s possible that there are bots on SongPop, but the developers of the game have not confirmed or denied their existence. Some players have reported experiencing suspicious behavior from certain users, such as consistently getting high scores or responding incredibly quickly to questions, which has led them to suspect that those users might be bots.

In any case, if you suspect that someone you’re playing against on SongPop might be a bot or engaging in unfair behavior, you can report them to the game’s support team. They will investigate the issue and take appropriate action if necessary.

Types of SongPop Scams to Watch Out For

Romance Scammers

Romance scammers will go onto SongPop and play online with random people consistently until they are able to message a player. They start a conversation with someone who plays with them consistently and compliments this player on their beauty. The player is flattered and continues to talk to this person online so that they can get to know them.

Once they have had a few successful conversations, the romance scammer invites them to text using WhatsApp or Google Hangouts so that they can continue talking off of the SongPop app. The romance scammer and victim become even closer since the scammer knows all the right things to say that will win their victim over.

After the victim falls head over heels in love with their opponent, their scammer starts asking them for money and comes up with fake emergencies as excuses. They usually claim that their job or life is on the line if they don’t get their hands on your money right away.

The victim gives them their money, thinking they are helping the romance scammer out. However, the romance scammer continues to trick them until they have drained their victim’s bank account.

SongPop Bots

According to SongPop Wiki, fans have been discussing a weird phenomenon with certain users that they play against. These certain players always choose the same music playlists as them, always have perfect scores, and always appear at the same time as they do. They also usually have their messaging feature turned off.

SongPop fans suspect that these strange players are bots created by the developer so that they feel like they always have someone to play with. These bots use fake photos so that SongPop users think they are real people when in reality, they are just AI-generated people. SongPop figures that if their users always feel like they have someone to play with, that the users will never get bored of the app, and will therefore spend more money on the app.

How to Avoid SongPop Scams

  • Don’t give any personal or financial information to anyone you met online.
  • Don’t get into a serious relationship with someone unless you video chat with them or meet them in person first.
  • Don’t message anyone on SongPop that you don’t know.
  • If they have perfect scores and copy the same playlists you have, they could possibly be a bot.
  • If you can help it, only play with people you know.
  • Don’t chat with someone you don’t know on other outside apps.
